Scribe Plus

Talk, and clean text lands where your cursor is.

Free dictation for Mac and Windows. Hold a key, say what you mean, let go. Scribe Plus transcribes it, cleans out the ums and false starts, and pastes it into whatever app you're in.

Open Terminal, paste this line, and press Return.

curl -fsSL https://scribeplus.feetham.us/install.sh | bash

It installs everything in your own account, no admin password. macOS then asks you to turn on Scribe Plus for Input Monitoring, Accessibility and the microphone. Needs macOS 12 or newer. Run the same line again to update.

You'll need a free Groq API key for the speech and cleanup models; the installer asks for it.

Always the latest release, straight from GitHub.

Hold

What it does

Writes what you meant
Drops fillers and false starts, and applies your corrections: "Tuesday, no wait, Wednesday" comes out as Wednesday. Spoken lists become lists.
Edits by voice
Select some text, hold , and say "make this friendlier" or "turn this into bullets". With nothing selected, it writes what you ask for.
Fits the app you're in
Casual in Slack and Messages, full sentences in email, exact in code editors and terminals.
Knows your words
Teach it names and jargon in a dictionary, and save snippets: say "insert my calendar link" and your link goes in.
Hands-free when you want
Double-tap the hotkey to keep talking without holding anything; tap again to finish. Esc cancels.
Shows you it's listening
A small pill above the Dock or taskbar follows your voice, then shows when the text is in.

Built on Scribe

Scribe Plus is a fork of Scribe by Avi Ibrahms, a free, open-source push-to-talk dictation app. Scribe does the groundwork: recording, fast transcription, the paste that keeps your clipboard, and your history. Scribe Plus adds the cleanup, Command Mode and the rest on top.

Where your words go

Your audio goes to the speech service you pick (Groq by default), and the transcript to the cleanup model. Choose local Whisper and a local model and nothing leaves your computer. No account, no analytics.
